Bomb hoax
in Citibank
creates panic
ISLAMABAD: A hoax bomb call resulted in the evacuation of Citibank premises here on Tuesday afternoon.
Citibank branch manager Nasir Khan alerted the police after he received an anonymous call that a bomb had been planted at the building and that the device will go off 'anytime'.
The Islamabad police emergency squad as well as anti-bomb squad were rushed to the Citibank branch, situated in the Khyber Plaza.
All the inmates were made to leave the building and gather outside at a safe distance from the place as motorists and pedestrians passing by at the time stopped to watch the spectacle.
The police and anti-bomb squad combed the whole building as well as other offices and shops in the Khyber Plaza before giving all-clear an hour later.
"It was kind of scary to be alerted of a bomb threat in the middle of a workday," said a Citibank employees. "Someone played a cheap gimmick on us", he added.
High police and administration officials, including SSP Nasir Khan Durrani, reached the spot and supervised the building-combing operation.ÑAPP
