NO VIRAL INFECTION
Talking to newsmen the governor reiterated that no death had been caused in Tharparkar district due to viral infection.
He said he himself had visited various villages in Thar district alongwith Javed Jabbar, Adviser to Chief Executive and Sindh Health Minister, Dr. S. M. Rab to ascertain the facts and found that no death had resulted due to viral infection.
He said the medical teams of Sindh Health Department, LMC Hospital and Bannh Beli NGO had visited about 200 villages in Tharparkar but could not detect a single case of a viral infection.
He pointed out that the bogey of viral infection had been raised by hostile agencies who wanted to bring a bad name to government and the country.
He said whatever deaths were reported were due to the absence of rainfall during the last few years, malnutrition, poverty, hunger and contaminated and brackish water, and added that people had lost resistance power.
He said TB was the major disease in Thar and added that a massive anti TB programme will be launched soon.
About the migration of people, he said that the Kohli and Bheel tribes always shifted from Thar to neighbouring districts in search of livelihood during this season.
Replying to a question about the shortage of irrigation water in Sindh, the governor said that the entire country was facing the same problem.
He, however, expressed the hope that after the melting of snow, this problem would be resolved.
