July-Dec lending to growers 10.40 pc down

ISLAMABAD: Lending to growers by Agriculture Development Bank (ADBP) and other banks has declined by Rs 2.240 billion during the July-December period this fiscal, it is reliably learnt.

Official sources said that the total agriculture credit disbursed during this period is Rs 19.285 billion as compared to Rs 21.525 disbursed during the corresponding period last fiscal registering 10.40 percent decrease.

Total production loans disbursed during this period amounted to Rs 15.235 billion as compared to Rs 18.448 billion of the same period last fiscal, declining by 17.42 percent. The amount distributed in development loans is Rs 4.050 billion as compared to Rs 3.076 billion given during the same period last fiscal, registering an increase of 31.66 percent.

Institution-wise distribution shows that ADBP during this period disbursed agriculture credit to the growers to the tune of Rs 11.6 billion as compared to Rs 14 billion distributed during the same period last fiscal, showing a decrease of 17.2 percent.

The disbursement of production loans by ADBP during the first six months of this fiscal decreased to Rs 7.928 billion as compared to Rs 11.064 billion disbursed during the same period last fiscal, showing a decrease of 28.34 percent.

The distribution of the development loans during the same period increased by Rs 3.661 billion as compared to Rs 2.934 billion distributed during the same period last fiscal, showing an increase of 24.78 percent.

The disbursement of agriculture credit to growers through commercial banks during July-December period this fiscal increased to Rs 5.094 billion as compared to Rs 4.337 billion disbursed during the corresponding period last fiscal, showing a rise of 17.44 percent.

During this period commercial banks disbursed production loans of Rs 4.721 billion as against the Rs 4.198 billion disbursed during the same period last fiscal, increasing by 12.46 percent. The distribution of development loans during the same period is Rs 372.539 million as compared to Rs 139.420 million disbursed during the same period last fiscal, showing an increases of 167.21 percent.

The disbursement of agriculture credit through Federal Bank for Cooperatives during this period decreased to Rs 2.601 billion as compared to Rs 3.188 billion of the corresponding period last fiscal, showing a decline of 18.86 percent.

During this period FBC disbursed production loans of Rs 2.585 billion and development loans of Rs 16.37 million as compared to Rs 3.186 billion and Rs 2.680 million respectively during the corresponding period last fiscal, showing a decrease of 18.86 percent in production loans, while an increase of 510.82 percent in development loans.
