Mohallah bodies'

KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Shafiqur Rehman Paracha has held meetings with members of Mohallah committees to review the performance of these committee, it is officially stated here on Sunday.

The meetings were attended by the deputy commissioner (central), respective SDMs and officials of different departments including DMC, KW&SB, KESC.

He stressed the need to carry coordinated efforts by the members of the Mohallah committees and officials concerned at their levels to bring positive changes with regard to improving supply of water, sewerage condition and sanitation work and establish system for immediate redressal of public grievances.

The commissioner asked them to preferably ensure the presence of the field workers on the duty and said that members of the committees should monitor this.

The meeting decided to hold regular meetings of the committee and all officials concerned of DMC, KW&SB, KESC, KMC and other would ensure their attendance in the meetings besides the SDM area.

It was decided that the decisions taken in these meetings would be prepared in Urdu and communicated to the respective deputy commissioners and also to commissioner.

The meeting also decided that a register would be maintained containing the names of each field workers concerned, their seniors along with their contacts numbers with their designations.

The commissioner asked these committees to come forward in improving the performance of government departments and make officials cooperative and result-oriented.

He also said they should identify the problems of their area and for the solution to these problems strengthen the co-ordination and enhance the co-operation with the civic bodies.

Highlighting the objectives of the Mohallah committees the commissioner said the prime objective is to solve the problems of citizens with the co-operation of citizens so that they should work selflessly without any discrimination.

Commissioner Shafiqur Rehman Paracha also visited Sharifabad, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad and Moosa Colony along with Mohallah committee members.ÑAPP
