Army probing malpracticesin PTCL

KARACHI: The Army Monitoring Team (AMT) has initiated probe to ascertain extent of financial malpractices committed under the head of maintenance of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL)'s Quarters in Karachi.

Sources said the AMT, taking exception of frequent publication in national newspapers decided to launch massive probe to set things in right direction.

The quarters are mainly located in P&T Colony, Central Telegraph Office (CTO) Compound, Malir RTTS, Shadman and Ghulashan-e-Iqbal, etc.

The AMT has focused its attention to detect financial bunglings from 1998 to 2000, as most misappropriation cases have surfaced during this period.

Earlier, the AMT had conducted a raid at Southern Telecommunication Region-II (STR) office and forfeited record from there. Later, some officers, alleged to be involved in financial scam, were transferred. PPI
