Milam opens American Embassy Home Page

ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador to Pakistan William B Milam inaugurated the American Embassy Home Page here on Wednesday to provide access to the internet users to a wealth of information concerning America and its policies on various current issues.

Milam cut a red ribbon to formally launch the home page and termed it a special occasion. Internet users can get this information at www.usembassy.state.gov/pakistan.

The American Centre has brought out a small card on the occasion which shows four cities of Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi where their consulates are located. It reads," Your gateway to the US Mission in Pakistan and the US government in Washington," and contains the address of the American Embassy Home Page.

Milam said the basic purpose of the home page was to provide information to the internet users about America which will range from basic facts to the information about the immigration and non-migration visa.

The home page will contain all the US president messages, information on what the US State Department has said on the certain important issue or information regarding Islam in America. The users can also have detailed information about the procedures or the latest information about the US Elections 2000.

He said it is a symbol of new diplomacy to come together and to begin a public programme for the new millennium.

Milam said suggestions will be welcomed to further improve the services of the home page.-APP
