"Govt to provide conducive atmosphere for promotion of culture"

ISLAMABAD: Samin Jan Baber, Federal Secretary for Culture Sports and Tourism, said that the government was keen to provide a conducive atmosphere for the promotion of culture and tourism in the country.

He was inaugurating the first international children's art exhibition which was organised by the National Council of Arts with the collaboration of Unicef here at the National Art Gallery on Wednesday.

Besides, the ambassadors from China, France, Egypt, Romania, Czech Republic, Sudan and Oman, a large number of teachers and school children from home and abroad attended the inaugural ceremony.

Samin said the exhibition will provide a good opportunity to our child artists to have an artistic interaction with the works sent by their counterparts from various countries.

He said this would also enhance awareness and understanding about mutual perceptions, dreams and desires of global community of new generation and contribute towards a prosperous future of the world community.

The new millennium and the new generation was looking towards our creative geniuses for their leap forward as a powerful source of inspiration and motivation, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, PNCA Director General Ghulam Rasool said, since its inception it had organised over a thousand solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad.

The present event was yet another step forward to introducing the innocent expressions of world children through colours and lines of their choice, he said.

He expressed the confidence that the number of participating countries and their entries would increase enormously next year.

The exhibition will remain continue until March 31 and the similar exhibition would also be held at Lahore, Karachi Peshawar and Quetta, DG PACA added. APP
