CBR withdraws order on UPS
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) on Wednesday explained that it has withdrawn Customs General Order No. 9/93 regarding classification of the un-interruptible power supply system (UPS).
Official sources informed Business Recorder that in 1993 UPS was considered as a part of computer system and duty-free import was granted to it through CGO No. 9/1993 issued on September 14, 1993.
However, the board has also classified the UPS in the customs tariff of 1998 and there was no need of CGO any more.
In order to end the confusion of classification of UPS in two places, the CBR has finally withdrawn the order with immediate effect.
