Architecture institutes urged to get registered
KARACHI: The Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) has reminded all local institutions imparting architectural and town planning education that they under Section 10 (2) of the PCATP Ordinance 1983 are obligatory to get their degree/certificate programmes recognised from the Council.
The PCATP registrar S.D. Arshad, in a statement here on Wednesday said the Council under the said Section has the power to accord recognition to new qualification in architecture and town planning upon receiving an application from the concerned institution.
He, therefore, advised all concerned institutions to apply, under the clause, to the Council for recognition of their Graduation Programme in Architecture and Town Planning much in advance thus avoiding any hardship to the institute and the students at a latter stage.
"No architect or town planner can practice in the aforesaid profession without registration with PCATP and anybody who is not authorised through the Council is liable to be prosecuted under the PCATP Ordinance 28, 1983," he warned.
The PCATP Registrar also urged the local students of architecture and town planning to see that they are admitted to an institute or school offering certificate courses authorised or recognised by the Council as per Section 10(2) of the PCATP Ordinance 1983. APP
