KPT efforts to modernise port praised

KARACHI: Port Council Members have deeply appreciated the steps being taken by the KPT management in modernising the Port and bringing it at par with other modern ports of the region, says a press release.

Presentations were made by the KPT staff at the Council meeting held on Tuesday on the development plans of the KPT, corporatisation, facilitation features being provided to trade, etc. A detailed agenda was discussed and mutual exchange of ideas was held in order to elicit the views of the port-users. The under execution of computerisation (EDI) was also presented and the interface with Customs and all port-users was outlined. The computerisation of the KPT will be completed by the end of the year.

The 62nd annual Port Council meeting of the Karachi Port was attended by representatives from the entire port and shipping sector in addition to members of FPCCI, KCCI, Shippers Council, and Ship agents as well as stevedores, etc.
