Dispute arises

over leadership

of MWPJO

KARACHI: The office bearers and members of the Media Women Publishers and Journalists Organisation (MWPJO) at a meeting on Wednesday strongly condemned the unauthorised general body meeting of the MWPJO to elect new office bearers.

A press release of the MWPJO said that an allegedly illegal general body meeting was held at the residence of one of the members of the organisation, Shehla Abbasi, where selection of office-bearers was conducted.

The office-bearers and members protesting against "illegal GBM" have demanded for fresh general body meeting after proper issuance of notice and adherence to the by-laws of the MWPJO.

The meeting was attended by the President of the MWPJO, Safia Rasheed, former senior vice chairperson, Sultana Mahar, Mahnaz Rehman, Shahnaz Ahad, Nuzhat Sheerin, Salma Murad, Razia Sultana, Anita Umer Baloch, Malka Afroze Rohila, lady photographer Afghan, Sofia Yazdani, Rubina Jabbar, Dr. Tahmina Arshad Nomani, Rani Khawaja, Saher Hasan, Khursheed Haider, and legal adviser of the organisation Begum Sarwar Jehan.
