Javed Iqbal sentenced to death for 100 times

LAHORE: The Additional District and Sessions Judge Lahore Allah Baksh Ranjha on Thursday awarded 100 times death sentence to the main accused Javed Iqbal Moghal.

The court also awarded 700 years rigorous imprisonment to Javed Iqbal and observed that the convict (Javed) be hanged at Minar-e-Pakistan and after cutting his body into 100 pieces, be put in acid in the presence of bereaved families.

The court also awarded 98 times death penalty to a co-accused Sajid for killing 98 boys. The court also awarded him rigorous imprisonment of 700 years and observed that his body should also be hanged at Minar-e-Pakistan and after cutting it into 98 pieces be put in the acid.

The court, however awarded 114 years rigorous imprisonment each to other two accused Nadeem and Sabir.

The court announced the decision at 11.30 am in the presence of all the four accused and the heirs of victim boys.

The court when announced its judgement, the main accused, Javed Iqbal contended that although the court had announced its decision against him, the real culprits had escaped the punishment. The police, however brought him out of the court immediately.

The court declared that the convicts can appeal to the high court within seven days.

Defence counsel and state counsel attended the court. Immediately after the sentences were passed, the principal convict Javed Iqbal asked his counsel Faisal Najib Chaudhry to file appeal against the verdict in the Lahore High Court.
