with Microsoft

ISLAMABAD: The Gulf Air has signed a global agreement with Microsoft to deploy its technology throughout airlines' headquarters and out-stations for providing better customers services.

The move will see Gulf Air quickly expand its IT infrastructure to consolidate its position as a leading-edge airline and technology user. It will also give the airline easy global access to vital operational information, allowing it to better serve and respond to its customers' needs, said a press release here on Thursday.

"By partnering with a global leader in IT, we can ensure that our systems are running on 'best of breed' technology that will provide us with the stability and reliability we need to keep our systems running around the clock," said Tariq Hatim Sultan, Assistant Vice-President of Information Technology at Gulf Air.

The airline turned to Microsoft Windows NT to serve as the backbone of its networked environment to support its mixed mainframe and client server systems, while providing a standardised, advanced desktop environment to support its IT industry and utilitarian solutions for airline.
