APP adds: Viral infection story
The provincial Health Secretary, Rukhsana Saleem said on Thursday the viral infection has been brought under control to a great extent.
She said that cooperation in this regard has also been sought from WHO and National Institute of Health, Islamabad and hopefully they would be sending their teams to affected Thar areas shortly.
Presiding over a meeting held to review the steps taken by Sindh Health Department in connection with anti-viral measures, the health secretary was satisfied with the same and asked the Health department officials to spare no efforts in containing the viral infection.
On the occasion Rukhsana Saleem was informed that viral infection had particularly attacked Mithi and Chachro areas for the last one month. However the infection spread fast during the last one month and claimed 95 lives.
She was informed that 10 medical teams of Health Department which were functioning in various Thar villages, examined 102 patients who suffered from different diseases and they were provided free medical treatment.
The director health dealing with Epidemics, informed that a team of doctors and pathologists are obtaining blood samples in a village so as to identify the disease.
The health secretary was informed that no death was reported from Mithi and Chachro during the last two days because of viral infection.
She expressed satisfaction over the anti-viral measures and directed DG health that she should be provided a daily report about viral infection.ÑAPP
