Commission to probe Raad's murder
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: The government on Tuesday announced formation of a high-level judicial commission to hold an inquiry into the murder of Iqbal Raad, defence counsel for Nawaz Sharif.
An announcement by the federal government said that a Supreme Court judge, as nominated by the Chief Justice, would act as the commission which will conduct "a full and proper" inquiry into the murder of former Advocate General of Sindh, Iqbal Raad and his two associates in Karachi on 10th.
The notification said that the commission would ascertain the circumstances and causes relating to the murder of late Iqbal.
Constitution of this high-level commission follows flood of allegations and counter allegations from the opposition and the government forces both of that initially blamed each other for the murder.
PML claimed that defence councel for Nawaz Sharif had been complaining of receiving threats for the last many days and despite the fact that the government was properly informed appropriate measures for his security were not taken.
Initially the government put the blame for the crime on politicians but later some tip offs led it to the conclusion that some "foreign elements" were behind the murder who were not happy with US President's visit to Pakistan.
