Food officials
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: The office-bearers of the Atta Chakki Owners Social Welfare Association have demanded of the government to investigate anti-people policies and the corruption of the Sindh Food Department.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday the association general secretary Haroon Arain and office-bearers Gulzar Ahmed, Iftikhar Ahmed and Imtiazuddin alleged that no less than 15,000 to 20,000 tonnes of wheat quota per month had been reduced for the Hyderabad Chakkis during 18 months.
They claimed that due to the fear of the people of Hyderabad who could come on the roads for artificial shortage of wheat flour 60 tonnes wheat quota had been increased for the Hyderabad chakkis which they added was like a drop in the ocean.
They said that the Association from time to time had informed the higher authorities about the anti-people and anti-state policies of Food Department officials but in vain.
They vowed to continue their struggle till such time that action was taken against the corrupt officials.
They called upon the government to hold an inquiry into the grievances of the Chakki-owners and if they were proved wrong they should be severely punished.
