Afghan refugees repatriation: UN urged to take steps
ISLAMABAD: The Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Northern Areas and SAFRON, Abbas Sarfaraz Khan, has said that the United Nations (UN) should take up the issue of Afghan refugees with the Kabul government for repatriation to their homeland.
He said this while talking to Inspector General of Unhcr, Nicholas Morris who called on him here on Tuesday.
Morris discussed with the Minister, matters relating to Afghanistan and Afghan refugees.
The Minister said that UN should develop communication infrastructure like roads and water resources and solve basic problems in Afghanistan.
He said that Pakistan sacrificed a lot for Afghan refugees after the Afghan war and due to the refugee problem, faced social problems like unemployment, smuggling of arms and drug trafficking.
Nicholas Morris on the occasion said, UN will take steps for the betterment of Afghanistan and repatriation of Afghan refugees. APP
