Funds provided for resuming Lahore road project

LAHORE: Funds have been provided for resuming construction work on 191 city roads under the Lahore Rehabilitation Project.

This was stated by the Army Monitoring Team head Brig. Usman Saeed and Implementation and Coordination Secretary Shahid Rasheed, at a news briefing on Monday.

Brig. Usman said the monitoring by the army was aimed at improving the living conditions of the masses by enhancing the functioning of various departments. He said the army monitoring team pointed out various areas that were posing problems to the common man and the civilian machinery redressed these problem areas.

He said the monitoring would promote work culture which had almost vanished from the government departments. He said the civilian and the army administration was working jointly to improve the departments working.

Brig. Usman said the Tanneries Pollution Control Project at Kasur would be operational from July this year. He said medical facilities and education were the top priorities of the government. He said a plan was also under consideration to improve the transport system.
