KARACHI: District Municipal Corporation (DMC), East has made special arrangements for cleanliness and offal removal on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.

For this purpose, some 56 panchayat offices, seven central zones and a complaint centre have been established in the district.

DMC-East Administrator Tahir Khurshid chaired a meeting here on Monday to chalk out the contingency plan.

The meeting also decided to constitute vigilance team to ensure prompt disposal of waste scattered on all thoroughfares as well as side roads, lanes and by-lanes of the district.

The meeting attended by the chief sanitary inspectors, associated with provincial health department, agreed on deputing at least one and well equipped sub-inspector at each of the seven panchayat offices on all three days of the Eid, responding to all complaints received during the eve.

Chief sanitary inspectors were directed to inspect parts of their very areas, at regular intervals, ensuring prompt response to complaints received and improving the performance of the staffers deputed.

Vigilance teams are expected to despatch their respective reports on hourly basis to the Administrator's Secretariat. It was also decided that Administrator, Director Health, Additional Director Health would make surprise visits at regular intervals.

Staff associated with KMC-East workshop and mechanical and engineering department would perform their respective duties on all three days of the Eid. They have also been directed to ensure that all DMC-East vehicles would remain in working condition.ÑAPP
