Sugar, wheat maintain
rising trend on
commodity markets
RECORDER REVIEW
KARACHI: Wheat and sugar did not relent and maintained uphill course during the week ended on March 11, 2000.
Among the risers were wheat, sugar, jute good, bajra, tuver both from Punjab and Burma, Til Sindh and castorseed. And those which lost were gram imported, dal beetle, betel nuts, masoor imported tea, plastic mouldings, chemical and dyes.
TEAS: Kenyan PF-1 A grade rose by Rs 2 to Rs 220. Plus C grade was up by Rs 3 to Rs 190. BP-1 A grade dropped Rs 8 to Rs 222. D-1 A grade was down by Rs 5 to Rs 235. Bangladesh's Garden pack Original dropped Re 1 to Rs 118. Gulab lost Rs 3 to Rs 113. Khushbu lost Rs 2 but later rose by Re 1 to Rs 116. STD/BOP dropped Rs 6 to Rs 113 and garden pack/BOP rose by Rs 6 to Rs 116. China's green 9575 shed Rs 2 to Rs 46, and 2241 lost Rs 5 to Rs 125.
POWDERED MILK: Skimmed Nurpur dropped Rs 100 to Rs 2700 and Poland lost Rs 75 to Rs 2275. Full cream instant Bailie Gold lost Rs 50 to Rs 2850 and Green Flag was up by same amount to Rs 2550. Sweetened per carton Omela Holland was quoted down at Rs 1725.
PLASTIC MOULDINGS: LLDPE W118 Ladene shed Re 1 to Rs 26. Escorene lost same amount to Rs 26. Daelim lost Rs 2 to Rs 26 and 7087 lost Re 1 to Rs 26: Polypropylene film Thai conceded 50 paisa to Rs 23, Indonesia lost same amount to Rs 23 and Kuwait shed Rs 2 to Rs 23. Polypropylene tape grade Delim dropped Rs 1.25 to Rs 22, Yuplene shed same amount to Rs 22, Thai lost Rs 1.25 to Rs 22 and Saudia lost Rs 1.25 to Rs 22. Polypropylene injection grade Saudia shed Rs 1.25 to Rs 22, Yuplene lost same amount to Rs 22, Delim shed Rs 1.25 to Rs 22 and Hanwa lost same amount to Rs 22.
UREA MOULDINGS: Ahn dropped Rs 5 to Rs 1180, China shed Rs 15 to Rs 1400, Chemi dropped Rs 10 to Rs 2300, Bip rose by Rs 10 to Rs 2100, Kip was up by Rs 5 to Rs 2075, sprea was up by Rs 15 to Rs 1975 and Melamine glaze rose by Rs 10 to Rs 4125.
KIRANA: Black pepper from Vietnam lost Rs 400 to Rs 13,400, from Singapore lost Rs 1000 to Rs 13,000 and from Ceylone lost same amount to Rs 13,000. White pepper rose by Rs 600 to Rs 21,600. Cloves lost Rs 800 to Rs 12,000 Big cardamom dropped Rs 200 to Rs 17,700 Copra Ceylon was quoted down at Rs 1900. Copra Seychelles shed Rs 500 to Rs 2,000. Small copra was quoted down at Rs 1950 Dry ginger from China earlier lost to gain to Rs 2800. Saunf rose sharply to be quoted at Rs 2280. Gum gogal shed Rs 50 to Rs 2650. Isbaghol bhoosi lost Rs 100 to Rs 7100. Chillies dandicut was up by Rs 400 to Rs 2400. Cuminseed rose by Rs 150 to Rs 3150. Darchini was up by Rs 225 but later lost Rs 50 to be quoted at Rs 4150. Tamarind lost Rs 60 to Rs 1460. Almond girdi shed Rs 150 to Rs 1650. Almond Irani earlier gained Rs 150 but later lost to be last quoted at Rs 7800. Apricot I rose by Rs 400 to Rs 2400 and apricot II was up by Rs 200 to Rs 2000. Dry dates was quoted more or less at Rs 1400.
Betel nut whole new dropped Rs 20 to Rs 105 and old lost Rs 10 to Rs 20.
CHEMICALS: Caustic soda flakes Saudi was quoted at Rs 25 formic acid China was up by 20 paisa to Rs 46.20, from Pakistan lost Rs 2 to Rs 44 and from Germany was quoted higher at Rs 48.40. Sulphonic acid China was up by 60 paisa to Rs 72.60.
DYES: Base China blue BB lost Rs 10 to Rs 670. China Tenjin red 12B lost Rs 3 to Rs 115. Turkey dyes basic colours Aramine O lost Rs 4 to Rs 110. Basic brown shed Rs 2 to Rs 78, Malachite green lost same amount to Rs 136. Acid dyes India green V rose by Rs 10 to Rs 240. Sulphur dyes China sulphur 501 lost 50 paisa to Rs 33.50 and blue BRN shed Rs 2 to Rs 82. Sulphur yellow brown 5G dropped Rs 4 to Rs 56 and sulphur black 522 was quoted at Rs 35.
Wheat and sugar got revised more then once Cumulative gain in wheat took inferior to Rs 1010 and better type to Rs 1020.
Sugar was up inferior to Rs 2005 and better to Rs 2030.
Gram imported both types yielded Rs 50 to Rs 1875 to Rs 1925. Gram dal imported both quoted at Rs 2125 and Rs 2178. Dal beetle lost Rs 20 to Rs 2580 and better type was quoted at Rs 2630. Tuver Punjab inferior was up Rs 25 to Rs 2275 and better up by Rs 15 to Rs 2290. Tuver Burma both types was up by Rs 50 to Rs 2300 and Rs 2400. Urad Punjab was quoted at Rs 2500. Moong Punjab inferior lost Rs 65 to Rs 1750 and better type was up Rs 50 to Rs 1775.
Til Sindh gained but lost Rs 50 to close at Rs 1275 and Rs 1300. Castorseeds gained sharply Lasbela by Rs 55 to Rs 870 and better type was up Rs 45 to Rs 875. Bajra rose by Rs 15 to Rs 825. Rice Irri-6 Sindh new rose by Rs 10 to Rs 800 and Rs 825. Irri-9 Sindh was quoted at Rs 1025 and Rs 1050.
Gram yellow peas both types lost Rs 30 to Rs 1290 and Rs 1320. Dal yellow peas shed Rs 20 to Rs 1430 and better type shed Rs 25 to Rs 1450. Masoor imported lost sharply by Rs 100 to Rs 2250 and Rs 2400. Groundnut Punjab inferior lost Rs 25 to Rs 975 and better type was quoted at Rs 1300. Broken rice inferior lost Rs 100 to Rs 1300.
Rapeseed Dadu lost sharply by Rs 140 to Rs 400 to Rs 425. Rapeseed Mirpur revised downward to be lost quoted at Rs 500 and Rs 510. Rapeseed Nawabshah lost quoted after losing at Rs 500 and Rs 510. Rapeseed cake shed more than once and was lost quoted at Rs 160 and Rs 165. Cotton cakes revised more than once lost nearly Rs 20 to close at Rs 360 and Rs 365. Cottonseed NT Sawgin gained inferior by Rs 16 to Rs 348 and better type was up Rs 5 to Rs 370.
