Governor House denies stopping demolition of illegal buildings

KARACHI: A spokesman of Sindh Governor House on Sunday dispelled the impression that the Governor had ordered the stoppage of demolition of any illegally constructed building including Samiyya Terrace in Maqbool Abad area.

The spokesman said that during his visit to the site of Samiyya Terrace which was being demolished by Karachi Building Control Authority for its illegal construction, the Governor had directed that the building be sealed and further action be taken as per the court's decision.

The Governor had observed on the occasion that construction work on such buildings keep going for years but no one objects to it. Once the building is completed the critics come to the force and start raising hue and cry. He said why do they not take up the matter when a building is being constructed illegally. APP
