Clinton cannot mediate on Kashmir: Farooq Abdullah
JAMMU: The chief minister of occupied Kashmir Farooq Abdullah said on Sunday U.S. President Bill Clinton could not resolve the dispute between India and Pakistan over Kashmir.
"He cannot offer any solution to the problem and the decision in this regard is to be taken by the two countries, India and Pakistan," Farooq said at a function organised by the Airport Authority of India in Jammu.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar said in an interview with Star News television on Saturday he hoped the United States would mediate to ease tensions.
Sattar, speaking less than two weeks before a scheduled visit to India and Pakistan by Clinton, said the situation in South Asia was a "cause of anxiety for the world community".-Reuters
