'Kashmiris to hold rally in Delhi on Clinton's visit'

SRINAGAR: A Mujahideen leader said on Saturday that he would hold a rally in New Delhi during the visit of US President Bill Clinton to highlight the occupied Kashmir's dispute.

Shabbir Shah, who has spent more than 20 years in different Indian prisons, said about 400 workers of his Democratic Freedom Party from occupied Kashmir would participate in the rally.

"We will board a bus from Srinagar on March 19 for New Delhi and reach there the next day," Shah said in a statement.

"During the rally we will urge US President Bill Clinton to resolve the occupied Kashmir crisis. We will also urge him to impress upon India to give us the right to self-determination," Shah said.

"The idea behind the rally is also to highlight that Kashmiris participation must be ensured in any talks on the resolution of Kashmir."

"We will also use the occasion to highlight grave human rights violation taking place in the occupied valley of the hands of Indian security forces," Shah said. AFP
