Complex for precious
stones exporters planned
PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Industries and Mineral Development Owais Ghani disclosed on Friday that the government has completed all the planning for construction of modern complex for the exporters of precious and semi-precious stones and gems.
The complex would be constructed beside Nishtar Hall, Peshawar, for which land had already been acquired.
He said this while addressing a meeting of the exporters of precious and semi-precious stones here Friday.
He said that the multi-storey complex would cost Rs 200 million which would consist of Arts and Trade centre. The complex would also have the facility of cutting and polishing of precious stones besides show rooms, related shops and offices for the exporters.
The Industry Minister said, the complex would provide the one window facility to the exporters and it would also have branch offices of Export Promotion Bureau, Banks and Customs and other related departments. The complex would also have the internet facility and would be equipped with latest information technology.
He said, the complex would be completed in a span of two and a half year and would be restricted only to 185 members of the association of precious and semi-precious stones.
Owais Ghani said, international exhibitions of carpets and precious stones would be arranged in the complex, it would also help promote tourism and cultural heritage of NWFP.
He told the meeting for the promotion of related skill, a Gem and Gemological Institute would also be established in the NWFP.
Chairman of the association Mazharul Haq presented the welcome address and referred to the problems faced by the exporters.ÑAPP
