FAISALABAD: Chief Executive Gen. Pervez Musharraf will reach Faisalabad on Saturday, March 11 on a short visit.

During his one-day visit, the chief executive will attend a special function at Kanak Mandi, Ghulam Mohammadabad, being held in afternoon in connection with "poverty alleviation" under the rural development and urban uplift programme.

The chief executive will also visit the local district jail to personally assess the problems of the jail inmates and issue on-the-spot orders for their redressal.

Gen. Musharraf will be the chief guest at a function being arranged by the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) at Faisalabad Serene Hotel.

The chief executive will also inaugurate the newly-constructed road in Jameel Town, besides performing the opening ceremony of the recently accomplished water supply scheme in Saeedabad.

Gen. Musharraf will also attend a high-level meeting in which he would be briefed about the pace of development project and the law and order situation in Faisalabad district.

The local administration is taking stringent security measures at the arrival of the chief executive. A huge amount of Rs 32,430 million are being spent on the construction of 198 'farm-to-market roads' in the Punjab province and the execution of numerous urban and rural development projects.

Faisalabad district has been provided a sum of Rs 900 million under this programme.

These steps of the present government would help improve the transportation of goods from remote village areas to urban markets and provide adequate civic amenities to the rural areas.
