Clinton's decision

KARACHI: Business community has welcomed the decision of US President Bill Clinton to visit Pakistan and said this will boost confidence of foreign investors in the country.

President Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Arif Habib said investors have welcomed this development and were happy over this news.

"I think this decision is not only in the interest of United States, but will raise the moral of Pakistani nation in the region. Pakistanis will feel that their country is also important for USA," he observed.

Habib said the remark by senior US officials that Pakistani nation is a friend of US and therefore American President was visiting Pakistan implies positive meaning.

He said this will also boost the confidence of foreign investors in stock market.

President FPCCI Fazlur Rehman Dittu said this shows the important, Pakistan holds in the region and added that this will have a positive impact on the business and investment climate in the country.

He said Pakistan is an old of USA which has helped the super power in Afghanistan and played important role in improving Sino-US relation.

Dittu was of the view that the visit will encourage foreign investors to come to Pakistan.

President KCCI Amjad Rafi said the visit will help in maintaining the balance of power in the region and added it said it will serve as impetus to foreign investment.

"I think this would have been not in the interest of United States, if Clinton would have visited only India," he observed.

Rafi said in the minds of foreign investors, Pakistan will no more a neglected country and its rating will improve.

He said irrespective of the short duration of visit of US President to Pakistan, it will have a positive affect on Pakistan's business.ÑAPP
