Attiya assures

aid for SOS

villages

RAWALPINDI: Dr Attiya Inayatullah, member National Security Council, said here on Friday, the government will provide loans to the students of SOS villages to enable them earn respectable living.

Addressing the opening ceremony of a technical centre of the SOS village, she said micro credits will be given to the students, after they complete their training.

The technical centre has been set up to provide training to boys in vocational trades.

Dr Attiya said, the government fully realised the rights of the orphans and is reviewing the procedure of disbursement of Zakat fund to ensure the needy get their due share.

The system will be simplified and is expected to be introduced from the next fiscal year, she added.

Dr Attiya praised the growing quality in care and services being extended to the SOS children and widows.

She said, recently orphaned children from held Kashmir were handed over to SOS village as, Kashmir is a disputed territory and Pakistan could not take them.

She hoped that the issue of Kashmir will soon be resolved according to the wishes of the Kashmiris.

Earlier she inaugurated the technical centre by cutting a ribbon.

She went round various sections of the centre and was informed about the set up and future plans of the centre.

Helmut Kutin, president SOS International performed the opening of the youth hostel, by unveiling a plaque.

Addressing the gathering, he eugloised the contributions of Dr Attiya who is also the founder of SOS children villages in Pakistan.

Kutin assured all possible assistance to these villages in Pakistan but asked the administration to make efforts for generating funds locally.

Surriya Anwar, president SOS children's villages in Pakistan, speaking on the ocassion said, six more villages are planned in the country including Multan, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Faisalabad, and Muzzafarabad.

Mrs Sadiqa Shah, chairperson SOS Rawalpindi, presented gifts to the chief guest.ÑAPP
