FIR registered against former Sindh IGP, others for embezzlement

KARACHI: Police have registered an FIR against former Sindh Inspector General of Police Bashir Ahmed Siddiqui, Sindh Employees Cooperative Housing Societies, Secretary Prof. Mohammad Moinuddin and Secretary Sabir Ali at Preedy Police station, Karachi District South, on Thursday and conducted several raids to arrest them for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of plots and millions of rupees.

According to report, the Army Monitoring Team in its drive to curb activities of officials and members of managing commitee of various societies carried several raids to apprehand them.

However, police succeeded in laying hand only on Secretary, Sabir Ali who invested misappropriated amount on his poultry farm.

It was divulged that Cooperative Department Assistant Registerar Masroor Ahmed Siddiqui in connivance with former IGP devourd millions of rupees while Bashir Siddiqui was alleged to have misappropriated six vehicles purchased from societies funds.

Scores of bureaucrates and police officials were deprived of their hard earned money and they are running from pillar to post to retrieve their embezzled amount invested in the hope of securing plots.

They alleged that former Sindh IGP has been involved in misappropriation to tune of Rs 5 billion and he should be awarded exemplary punishment.

However, when Duty Officer of Preedy police was contacted to verify the status of the case, he replied in negative and totally expressed his ignorance. PPI
