French unemployment falls further in January

PARIS: French unemployment fell 18,700 in on January, cutting the unemployment rate to 10.5 percent from 10.6 percent, Employment Ministry data showed on Tuesday. The latest dip extended a virtually uninterrupted decrease in monthly jobless figures since the left-wing government came to power in mid-1997, but was somewhat smaller in scale than the drops of more than 40,000 in on December and November.-Reuters
