7 record statements in serial killing case

LAHORE: The Additional District and Sessions Judge Allah Baksh Ranjha recorded the statements of seven prosecution witnesses including a police official and a photographer in serial killing case here on Tuesday.

The SSP Lahore also appeared before the court and assured timely and regular appearance of the prosecution witnesses.

The prosecution witnesses, who recorded their statements, were Said Mashi, Rahat Bano, Mohammad Faisal, SI Mohammad Hanif, ASI Mohammad Sadiq and photographer Khalil Shahzad.

Ghaziabad police station SI while recording his statement said that he had registered an FIR against accused Javed Iqbal, but later the case file was closed by the police.

Mohammad Faisal said that he was a neighbourer of accused Sabir, who told him that they had killed the children after committing unnatural offense with them.

He said Ravi Road police had also kept him in custody for three days for interrogation, adding that he was not giving this statement under any pressure.

Muhammad Akhtar said that he went to Ravi Road Police station for personal reasons where the main accused of the serial killings incident informed the police that some articles used in the incident were present into his sisters' house.

He said later the police recovered the articles from a box placed on the roof of her sister's house.

The defence counsel declared him a police tout and asked cross questions which he could not reply with confidence.

ASI Mohammad Sadiq said that he went to the spot with the Ravi Road police station SHO and made parcels of all the things including pictures, clothes and shoes lying in the rooms.

Photographer Khalil Shahzad said that the main accused had got developed a film and he identified 31 of the photographs.

The court adjourned the proceedings for further hearing till March 1.
