Huge quantity of arms, ammunition seized in Quetta

QUETTA: SSP Quetta Mohammed Riaz said here on Saturday during different raids in last three days, police have recovered 67 rocket launchers with fuses and 14 hand grenades and arrested three persons.

Speaking at press conference, he said during the last two months police arrested 22 hardened criminals and 710 other anti-social elements, recovered 12 vehicles and 15 motorcycles stolen/snatched from Quetta. A vehicle of PTCL department was recovered from Kanak area in Mastung district.

The SPP said that only last night a dacoit was killed during police encounter on Spinny road. The crime graph in the month of Ramazan had declined.

He said it was his utmost endeavour to get the confidence of the people revived on police but it would take some time.

Police, he said, was now keeping high profile in the slums around the city which were hitherto considered no-go areas and provided safe heaven for criminals.

Replying a question, he said that three members of the squad accompanying the car of the late Justice Marri had been suspended. The fourth one sitting in the front seat was injured in the firing. APP
