IBFAM hails SC judgement on Riba

KARACHI: The Institute of Banking Finance and Management (IBFAM) has welcomed the Supreme Court's judgement on Riba and the positive approach adopted by the government to implement the same.

In order to build up intellectual support for this towering task the IBFAM decided to organise a series of conferences on multi-dimensional aspects of this judgement entitled "Towards Riba free economy".

The IBFAM plans to organise a conference on the implications of and response to the Supreme Court's decision on Riba in February-March 2000 "best international practices and experiences in Islamic finance" in April-May 2000 "agenda for change" in August-September 2000 and "managing the change" in November 2000.

A week-long pilot workshop is scheduled to be held in early February, says a press release of IBFAM on Friday.
