Eid messages Nation urged to work for glory of Islam, Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: President Rafiq Tarar has urged the nation to shrug prejudices and regional interests, remain united and work for the glory of Islam and prosperity of the country.

"Our unity and our fraternity is our real strength," he said in his Eid-ul-Fitr message to the nation.

"We direly need to shrug prejudices and regional interests," he said adding "we must rise above all such feelings to work for the glory of Islam and prosperity of the country."

Islamic teachings, Tarar said, demand that we must not forget our indigent and impoverished countrymen, who are not in a position to share our jubilance. But we must remember them while celebrating Eid with our children and relatives, he added.

President Tarar expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty for providing yet another opportunity to celebrate Eid and share the happiness of the gorgeous day.

This is the first Eid of the 21st century, he said and added, let us on this auspicious occasion and supreme day pledge with Allah Almighty that we will lend all our energies and capabilities for the glory of Islam, Pakistan and the Islamic society.

Let us also pledge that we will continue to work relentlessly for the defence and stability of Pakistan.

"May Allah on this aupicious day bestow upon us his bounties and set free all nations of the world, especially the people of Kashmir from the shackles of slavery so that they may be able to share the real happiness," he prayed.

Extending his greetings to the nation the president prayed that may Allah direct us to lead a life in gratitude and in accordance with real teachings of Islam.

Islam, he said is a gift of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. During this auspicious month the Holy Quran was revealed, and Pakistan also came into existence, he added.

In the holy month fasting, prayers, taraveeh and recitation of Holy Quran bring us the blessings of Allah Almighty, both individually and collectively.

Whereas the month of Ramazan teaches us to exercise restraint, he said, it also stresses upon us to pledge that we will continue to lead a life in accordance with the spirit of fasting: That is we will continue to lead a pious life with restraint, sacrifice, selflessness and fraternity.

These are the qualities that carry us to the heights of humanity and keep the society in conformity with Islamic values, he said.

PERVEZ MUSHARRAF

Chief Executive Gen. Pervez Musharraf in his message said it was his wish and endeavour to see the country prosperous and progressing with the co-operation and participation of the people.

Gen. Musharraf said Eid's congregations are manifestation of the unity and love of the Muslims.

He prayed that may Allah give the people more joys and real happinesses.

The Chief Executive said the purpose of paying 'Fitrana' to the needy and deserving brothers and sisters on the occasion, is the demonstration of involving them in this joyous day.

God has once again bestowed on us the joys of Eid, said the Chief Executive. He said in Islam happiness means solace of heart and spiritual satisfaction which can be realised after fulfilling some great obligation.

Eidul Fitr is the joyous and an important day for the faithfuls which is celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramazan, he said.

AZIM DAUDPOTA

Governor Sindh Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) in his message said: "At the time of celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, we bow our heads before the Almighty Allah and thank Him for His blessings during Ramazan."

According to a press release, he said that Ramazan is a month of fasting, prayers, self-discipline and soul scarching. It also helps to give practical dimension to the message of social equality, when both the rich and the poor alike gather for prayers during the day and during Taraveeh displaying perfect equality significantly.

"On this auspicious day of Eid please remember the message of Quaid-e-Azam that I am sure that as we go on and on, there will be more of oneness Ñ one God, one Book, one Prophet (PBUH) and one Nation".

"On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, we should do some soul searching and cleanse our minds to get rid of all thoughts about any prejudices, and pledge to live together as brothers and sisters and as members of our province Sindh and one nation in perfect harmony with other provinces and their peoples, so that we can sincerely join our hands in recreating a mentally and physically strong and secure Pakistan, which will mean marching ahead towards more unity (oneness and singularity of purpose) health, wealth and prosperity.

"I, therefore, convey my message of hope and goodwill to all the residents of Sindh, from Kashmore in the north, to Nangarparkar in the East, and Karachi to the border of Balochistan. As we celebrate Eid, let us rededicate ourselves truly and faithfully in the letter and spirit of Islam. Let us reject all the reasons for any differenes and division and unite as true Muslims in order to live together harmoniously, happily and peacefully. Let us therefore work harder to begin a new chapter of orderliness, peace, prosperity, and faith, unity and discipline in our province, and in its mega capital Karachi. APP
