B'stan governor orders arrest of Marri's assassins with 48 hours

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Justice Amirul Mulk Mengal (Retd) has directed the administration to arrest the killers of Justice Mohammad Nawaz Marri within 48 hours.

The governor held an emergency meeting at the Governor House to discuss the motive behind the incident and an action plan to arrest the culprits.

He directed the police and local administration to arrest the assassins as early as possible. He said supremacy of law should be upheld at all costs and concrete steps be taken to pre-empt such incidents. He termed the killing of Justice Marri a uncivilised and barbaric act.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Mirza Qamar Beg, provincial home secretary, IG Police, Quetta Commissioner and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, the governor visited the Civil Hospital on hearing the news and reveiwed the situation. He also visited the injured guard and directed the authorities to provide all possible treatment facilities to him.

In his condolence message, the governor expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of Justice Mohammad Nawaz Marri.

He eulogised the services of the late Justice Marri and said in his death the province has lost an intelligent, honest and experienced judicial expert.

He prayed to Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss.

He also prayed for early recovery of the injured guard.

The governor also attended the funeral prayer and accompanied the coffin to the helipad. A helicopter flew the body of Justice Marri to Kohlu for burial. APP
