KARACHI: The computerisation of motor registration branches of the Excise and Taxation Department in Hyderabad and Sukkur - the two major divisions of Sindh - has been completed and it will go into operation shortly.

Stating this at a meeting here on Wednesday, Sindh secretary for Excise and Taxation Mohammed Saleem Khan said that following the suit of Karachi, the computerisation of motor registration branches at major divisions would not only benefit citizens but would also enable a strict check on theft of vehicles and evasion of tax.

Directive was issued at the meeting to computerise record of vehicles registered at Hyderabad and Sukkur.

The meeting was informed that two more branches of National Bank of Pakistan at the PIDC and Clifton road in Karachi assigned, by the motor registration wing of Karachi, to collect motor vehicle tax, have also been computerised, and will be inaugurated in a couple of days.

Efforts are being made for computerising the remaining NBP branches as well, the meeting was told.

The secretary Excise and Taxation called for installation of more MVT terminals at Awami Markaz so as to further facilitate the people in payment of tax.

The meeting was attended, among others, by directors Excise and Taxation of Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur besides National Bank and software representatives.-APP
