1,364 prisoners given remission in Balochistan

QUETTA: In all 1,364 prisoners serving various terms in different jails of Balochistan will benefit from the two-month remission granted to them by Balochistan government on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, it was officially announced here on Wednesday.

In the light of the decision, 56 inmates were released on Wednesday from different prisons of the province on completion of their sentence.

The remission is not applicable to the criminals undergoing sentences under Harraba/highway robberies, dacoities, kidnapping, abduction for ransom and gun-running.

It has also been decided that, after deduction of remission period of two months, if the remaining portion of any of the convict is less than 29 days, he will also be released under a special remission.

The decision will also be applicable to those detailed in judicial lock-ups. APP
