IGP directs recovery

of looted goods

KARACHI: The IG, Sindh Police, Aftab Nabi, on Tuesday took serious notice of a news item according to which the police personnel deprived a passenger Sajjad Shahid coming from Saudi Arabia on Sunday morning of 24,000 Saudi Riyals and decamped.

According to the news item, the FIR of the case was registered at Tipu Sultan Police Station but there was no trace of the accused cops.

In this regard the IG directed DIG Karachi and SSP East to ensure the arrest of culprits by January 20, and also to terminate their services. He said the cash looted by them be recovered and stern possible action be taken against them so that no such incident with passengers arriving from abroad recurs.

He said all such cases which occurred during 1998-99 should be re-investigated and action be taken against police officials found involved in these cases.ÑAPP
