Drastic sales
SEOUL: South Korea's largest auto maker, Hyundai Motor Co., and its affiliate Kia Motors Co. on Tuesday said their sales jumped last year thanks to the country's dramatic economic recovery and robust exports. Hyundai Motor sold 1.27 million units in 1999, up 40.1 percent from the previous year. The figures broke down to 570,510 units sold in the domestic market, up a whopping 70 percent from a year before, and 700,961 units shipped abroad, a figure which was up 22.5 percent from 1998.ÑAFP
