Digital Atlas of
Pakistan launched
ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the National Highway Authority Maj Gen Viqar ul Haq Khan Khalid (Retd) has said that the Digital Atlas of Pakistan is a great achievement of the Engineering Consultant of Pakistan in which detailed information is provided regarding infrastructure and data of Pakistan.
He was expressing views after a briefing session at NHA head office here on Tuesday.
Chairman of the Engineering Consultant Zaheer Mirza and Naveed Zaheer gave a detailed briefing about Digital Atlas of Pakistan, NHA's Members and senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Maj-Gen Viqar-ul-Haq Khan Khalid (Retd) said, all kind of information about Pakistan is provided in the Digital Atlas of Pakistan and that all the institutions of the country should take maximum advantage of it.
He said without information technology, rapid development cannot be made. He said use of information technology and software is vital the economic uplift of Pakistan.
He said this is the first product prepared in Pakistan which will open new vistas of development in various walks of life.
He said this is a first successful endeavour made by the experts of the Engineering Consultant for which they deserve appreciation and congratulation.
Naveed Zaheer of Engineering Consultant said the Atlas is being sent to the various countries all over the world. He said this product provides information on infrastructure, cities, towns, villages, and agricultural, industrial and mineral departments of Pakistan.
He said this CD is prepared with the help of Geographic Information Technology and its next version is being prepared in which data of 1998 is being stored. He said this is such a useful product that only a push of button will provide answer to every question regarding Pakistan on the map of Pakistan in from of graph or table.ÑAPP
