CDA to double
water
charges
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is considering to enhance water supply charges by 100 percent to meet the maintenance expenditure.
According to the Water Supply directorate, the CDA is supplying water on nominal charges and recovering only Rs 70 million from the consumers.
The CDA is bearing Rs 360 million maintenance expenditure including electricity charges, fuel and others. He said the CDA is also providing water through tanker service which is free of cost. He said this service also costs Rs 30 million fuel, vehicles maintenance, electricity and other charges.
He said the CDA is considering to enhance water supply charges by 100 percent to meet half of the maintenance expenditure.
About water level in the Simly dam he said level is constantly receding because of dry spell in the Simly dam catchment area.
He said Simly dam current water level is 2,280 feet while dam is supply 28 mg water from this source to the residents of Islamabad.ÑAPP
