Azhar rules out removal of Nawaz as PML president

LAHORE: Former Punjab Governor Mian Mohammad Azhar has said that Pakistan Muslim League has not yet considered the issue of removal of Nawaz Sharif as the party chief.

Talking to newsmen on Tuesday, he said that PML coordination committee, which met in Islamabad recently, discussed a number of proposals to reactivate the party. He categorically stated that there was no proposal of nomination of Ch Shujaat Hussain as the new PML president.

Talking about signing of the CTBT, Anwar-ul-Haq Ramy, said that it was not an issue of any individual but of the entire nation. The government, therefore, must take public into confidence prior to taking any decision in this regard.

Responding to newsmen, he said that Shahbaz Sharif did not talk with the American officials regarding the CTBT because he had no such agenda during his visit. However, he added, the prime minister had powers to send any one as his special envoy and he exercised his right.
