JAKARTA: At least 30 people were killed and 16 injured in two road tragedies less than 24 hours apart in Indonesia, police and reports said on Tuesday.
Seventeen people were killed when a bus and motorcycle collided head on in West Jakarta on Tuesday morning.
"It happened at the last intersection before the entry to the toll way at Meruya. I was not yet on duty but reports here say 17 people were killed," First Sergeant Jumadiono from the local police post said by telephone.
The motorcycle rider and passenger were killed as were the driver of the minibus and 14 passengers when their vehicle overturned and plunged into a ditch.
In the village of Candi, 600 kilometers (373 miles) east of Jakarta, at least 13 people were killed and 16 injured when the truck in which they were travelling plunged into a ravine late on Monday, the official Antara news agency said.ÑAFP
