Armymen should be included in Ehtesab process, says JI leader
Recorder report
LAHORE: Punjab Jamaat-e-Islami, Ameer Hafiz Muhammad Idrees has said that while the government is holding politicians, bureaucrats, traders and industrialists accountable for their misdeeds, exempting military officers from this process is not fair.
Commenting on Accountability Bureau Chairman Gen Syed Amjad Hussein's comments in which he is supposed to have said that Army officers could not be held accountable, Hafiz Idrees asserted that the Armymen were also part of our society and hence equally susceptible to evils of corruption, nepotism and other illegal practices.
Idrees said that in this country the ruling elite always considered itself pious and innocent. All the people should be treated on an equal footing, without any discrimination, he added.
He said that if the Army was not included in the accountability process without any justifiable reason, that would be destructive not only for the Army itself as an institution but for all of us.
