Probe against ST staff for breaking open hosiery premises

FAISALABAD: The Central Board of Revenue has ordered inquiry against the sales tax staff on charge of breaking open the premises of Kodak Hosiery, Faisalabad, and taking the factory's record into their possession.

The Additional Collector (Sales Tax), Abdul Sattar Aura, will start the inquiry from February 1.

The Kodak Hosiery Factory is a leading exporters of hosiery goods and when the sales tax staff raided the factory on the night of January 3, it manhandled and severely beat up the chowkidar and broke open the lock of the factory and took the record into their possession.

Hosiery producers and exporters of Faisalabad have strongly protested against this illegal action of the sales tax staff and demanded that the officials responsible should be given a proper dose to avoid such unhappy incidents in future.
