ISLAMABAD: An elaborate programme has been formulated to observe the Solidarity Day with the Kashmiri people on February 5.

An international seminar will be held here in which President Rafiq Tarar would be the chief guest.

Prominent intellectuals, scholars and journalists from home and abroad will participate, official sources said.

The Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir, presence of 700,000 Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and Kashmiris struggle for liberation will be the local themes of the seminar.

On this particular day, Chief Executive, General Pervez Musharraf will visit Azad Kashmir.

During his visit the Chief Executive will go round the camps of the Kashmiri migrants and address them.

A ceremony will also be held at Kohala Bridge at 2.00 p.m. for handing over of IHK orphans to Dr. Attiya Inayatullah, member of National Security Council.

All Pakistan Missions in various countries will also hold special receptions at which the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir will be highlighted and documentaries portraying Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir will be screened.

According to the details of the programme on February 4, a seminar on Kashmir will be held in Islamabad from 10.30 a.m to 6.00 p.m.

special prayers will be offered on February 5 for the martyrs of Kashmir and success of liberation movement.

Special sirens will be sounded across the country and the people will stop their work. All activities and transport will come to a standstill for two minutes, after sounding the sirens.

In Islamabad, a walk will be held and the participants will march towards United Nations High Commission office, where a memorandum on the Kashmir will be presented at 11.45 a.m.

The other features of the programme include, Kashmir cultural reflections, assembly of Kashmir community, congregation of minorities, NGOs social sector exhibition, sale of books, posters and brochures on Kashmir, photographic exhibition, display of paintings on Kashmir, Kashmir master artisans at work, Kashmiri folklore troupe and Kashmir cuisine at Lok Virsa.

The two-day programme will culminate with the dinner by the Minister for Kashmir Affairs for prominent Kashmiri leaders.ÑAPP
