Notices to PR land grabbers
SUKKUR: The residents occupying Railways lands in various localities here have been issued notices of 15 days to vacate the lands in their own interest failing which legal action will be taken against them. According to Pakistan Railways sources more than 50 percent area of Sukkur City had been under illegal occupation of professional land grabbers/builders/illegal encroachers for the last 50 years and many of them had even raised piece structures on Railways lands. These localities included Military Quarters, Takkar Mohalla, New Pind, New Goth, Bhoosa Lane, Choona Bhatta, Sleeper Factory area and Rohri Loco Shed Colony. Even some of the encroachers had illegally occupied Railways bungalows and quarters.ÑAPP
Ghost teachers' search begins
SUKKUR: The Monitoring Cell, Sukkur District has started checking attendance, service books and last pay slips in various educational institutions of Sukkur and Rohri to detect ghost teachers. Official sources said a team led by Lt. Col. Zahid Majeed had inspected various primary and high schools of Sukkur and Rohri on Friday and Saturday and listed a number of irregularities. The checking was likely to continue till next week.ÑAPP
Cloth shop gutted
NANKANA SAHIB: A cloth shop in main bazar Syedwala gutted when it caught fire on Saturday night. Cloth worth Rs 1 million reduced to ashes, said the owner of the shop. The cause of fire could not be known immediately.ÑAPP
3,000 vehicles challaned
LAHORE: Traffic Police Cantt Circle, Lahore have challaned 3,000 vehicles during the current month for violating traffic rules. This includes 1236, motorcycles, 1335 cars and 48 jeeps said a senior official of traffic Cantt Circle here on Sunday. The circle police in its campaign against under-age drivers challaned 221 vehicles and impounded 46 vehicles during the past two days. He advised the parents not to hand over vehicles to younger ones to avoid action against them. He said that strict action is being taken against the violaters of lane and line at Mall road here.ÑAPP
