CE urged to scrap contracts for failure to set up plants

MULTAN: The government should cancel 1971 agreements with registered pesticide companies as they have failed to establish plants in Pakistan till 1974 as committed.

This demand was made by Punjab Labour Alliance's chief Ghazi Ahmed Hassan Khokhar while addressing a meeting here on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Malik Gul-Bahar Bhutta, provincial Secretary-General of PLA.

He appealed to the Chief Executive of Pakistan to ask the agricultural scientists to carry out research on conventional mathod of cultivation, use of natural inure, and avoid the use of pesticides to save the new generation from destruction.

Rejecting the bio-technology slogan raised by multi-nationals, he said that this system would badly harm fertile land besides reducing the per acre yield gradually.

He further urged the Chief Executive to constitute a high-powered probe commission against the responsible elements who did not take any action against parties which did not establish pesticide manufacturing plants in Pakistan.
