Jamaat's annual meeting begins

LAHORE: Annual meeting of the Central Executive Committee (Markazi Majlis-e-Shoora) of the Jamaat-e-Islami started at Mansoora here on Saturday morning with party Ameer Qazi Hussein Ahmed in the chair.

The three-day meeting started discussion on a 21-point agenda, including the party performance during the past year, and proposals for the next year.

The Shoora will also discuss the issues like the Shariat Court decision against interest, unemployment, agriculture, CTBT, Kashmir and Chechnya.

Addressing the meeting, Qazi Hussein Ahmed said that the Jamaat would analyse the performance of the present government.

He said that there was a need for reviewing the party policy on issues like CTBT, three-month performance of the government and oath-taking of judges under Provision Constitutional Order (PCO).

He said that the Jamaat would not play the role of a silent spectator as it did not believe in drawing room politics.
