Forest policies seminar on Feb 1
ISLAMABAD: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has organised a seminar on "policy that works for forests and people" on February 1.
Environment and Local Governments and Rural Development Minister Omar Asghar Khan will chair the seminar.
Pakistan country Study "changing perspectives on forest policy" will be reviewed highlighting the policy processes and thus initiate a discussion and dialogue around policy issues in forestry sector to make government's policy formulation process more representative for the stakeholders.
The outcome of the seminar are envisaged to define the direction for a more people-friendly forest policy in Pakistan.
The International Institute for Enviornment and Development (IIED), UK had initiated a collaborative project "policy that works for forests and people" and Pakistan's country study "changing perspectives on forest policy" under this project provides a backdrop of forest policy institutions, their success and failures and changing trends in this sector. The discussions will be based on this study. APP
