Action against Lea
Market milk shops
resented
KARACHI: Sindh Milk Producers Association (SMPA) flayed the alleged ban placed on sale of milk brought from Thatta and other districts of Sindh other than Karachi, sold at Lea Market Karachi.
In a press statement Syed Aley Ahmed, Joint Secretary of SMPA said on Saturday that the prices of milk soared from Rs 10 per litre to Rs 16.50 just after the action taken by the deputy commissioner, south.
People of the city were benefitting from the lowered rates of milk and were getting milk at a price of Rs 12-14 per litre.
The milk is perfectly safe for human consumption and no law was violated and the action taken by the administration is un-warranted, SMPA joint secretary said.
Instead of taking notice of milk sale at Rs 22 per litre against retail sale price of Rs 20, fixed by the commissioner Karachi, administration action against milk sellers of Lea Market is uncalled for, he maintained.ÑAPP
